West Falls to Roseburg 6-2

3/14/2023

Legion Field | Roseburg, OR

One big inning is all it takes, they say. That saying remained true on Tuesday when Roseburg answered West Salem's one run top of the first with five of their own in the bottom half of that same inning. For the most part, the five runs the Titans gave up were self-inflicted as starting pitcher Chase Garland hit three batters and walked three more. A defensive error by Tyler Rock in the same inning didn't do the visitors any favors, either.

West Salem didn't go down without a fight, however. Roman Castronovo pitched five superb innings of relief, yielding one run the rest of the game. The Titans had their opportunities offensively, as they had multiple runners on in several innings. Unfortunately, the big inning that boosted Roseburg eluded the Titans, as they were only able to plate one additional runner after their single first inning run.

On the mound for Roseburg, Evan Corbin was dialed in as he struck out 10 Titans and yielded two runs (one earned) in the complete game victory.

Players of note:
Trey Ward (1-3); Roman Castronovo (5 IP, 1 ER, 2 K); Tyler Rock (1-2, 1 RBI, 1 R); Joel Spencer (1-2, 1 RBI); Tyler Lockhart (1-3, 1 SB, 1 R); Cole Hansen (1-3)
