The West Salem Titans fell behind early and couldn't come back in an 11-1 loss to Sunset on Friday. Sunset scored on a single by Maddox Montoya and a fielder's choice by Connor Stone in the first inning.
The Titans struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Sunset, giving up 11 runs.
Sunset opened up scoring in the first inning. Montoya drove in one when Montoya singled.
Sunset scored six runs in the fifth inning. The big inning for Sunset came thanks to by Logan Sullivan, a fielder's choice by Max Ellerbrook, and a double by Dakota Chun.
Kruz Schoolcraft led the Sunset to victory on the pitcher's mound. The bulldog lasted four innings, allowing one hit and one run while striking out seven. Griffin Jevning threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Matthew Luke started on the mound for West. The lefthander went four innings, allowing five runs on eight hits, striking out two and walking one. Kameron Splonski and Brennan Parker entered the game as relief, throwing one-third of an inning and one-third of an inning respectively.
Luke went 1-for-3 at the plate to lead West Salem Varsity Titans in hits.
Sunset scattered 12 hits in the game. Connor Anderson, Sullivan, and Charlie Holmes all had multiple hits for Sunset. Anderson led Sunset with three hits in three at bats.
