Summer Ball Tryouts

5/31/2016

The Wilson Dirtbags, our AAA Legion team, will be having tryouts June 1st and June 2nd. They will take place at Dallas High School at 6:00 PM both evenings. The cost for the season is $650. The team asks that each player bring $300 of that total to tryouts. If the player makes the team it goes towards the total fee and and the player does not make the team the money is returned. There will be opportunities to get sponsors to help with the cost for those interested.

The West Salem D1 and D2 teams will have tryouts June 2nd and 3rd. These will be held at West Salem High School at 6:00 PM. The cost for the summer is yet to be determined. Players who will be 9th graders to 12th graders at West Salem next school year (2016-2017) are encouraged to tryout.

Please keep in mind that these are tryouts and there is the potential for a player to NOT make a team. A player's previous team has no bearing on whether they make a team.

Schedules for for the D1 and D2 summer seasons are posted on our site. Please keep in mind they are subject to change and games at both levels will likely be added.

Titans Look For Road Upset in Quarterfinals

5/27/2016

Today West Salem heads to Portland to take on Westview High School in the quarterfinals of the state playoffs.  The Titans (#10) will be the underdogs in this contest vs. the Wildcats (#2). To get to this point Westview has been impressive offensively, putting up double digit run totals in each of their first 2 rounds.  They have defeated Madison 14-7 and Reynolds 10-1.  On their road to the quarterfinals West has knocked off Roseburg 7-2 and Lincoln 3-0.

Much like the Titans' last opponent (Lincoln), Westview has had great success and many accolades on their way to a 26-3 record.  During the 2016 season the Wildcats won the strong Metro Conference for an impressive fourth straight year, boast the Player of the Year, Pitcher of the Year, and have earned multiple all-conference awards. Westview and West Salem have played four common opponents this season; North Salem, South Salem, Beaverton, and Lincoln.

The game will take place at Westview High School and first pitch is set for 4:30 PM. Be sure to head north and cheer on the Titans!

West Salem Plays the Role of Underdog in Round 2

5/25/2016

Today the Titans head to Hillsboro to play Lincoln in the second round of the OSAA state playoffs. West Salem (#10) will be looking to upset the higher seeded Cardinals (#7). To advance to this game Lincoln beat Central Catholic 2-1 in exciting fashion on Monday, as they scored on a walk-off single in the last inning.  Meanwhile, West was able to sneak past Roseburg 7-2.

Coming in to the playoffs Lincoln has had a superb season, They have a 23-5 record overall and breezed through the PIL en-route to a conference championship. The Titans will need to be on the top of their game today as the Cardinals boast the Pitcher of the Year and the Player of the Year from their conference, as well as multiple all-league award winners. West Salem and Lincoln have had no common Oregon opponents this season. The last time these two teams faced off was in the Jesuit Jamboree at the beginning of the 2015 campaign.

The game will take place at beautiful Ron Tonkin Field (Hops Stadium), home of the Northwest League's Hillsboro Hops. First pitch is set for 5:00 PM. Head up north and root on the Titans!

State Playoffs Kick-Off Today

5/23/2016

Throughout Oregon the state baseball playoffs kick into full swing today.  West Salem will be playing host to Roseburg out of the Southwest Conference.  Coming into the game the Titans are ranked 10th in Oregon, while Roseburg is ranked 23rd. Other than the higher seed being the home team, rankings mean very little at this point.  Anything can happen in the crazy playoff world and the Titans will have to be ready to roll.  Roseburg comes from a strong conference, is well coached, and it's baseball program is traditionally recognized as one of the better in the state.  Here's an article on today's match-up from a Roseburg perspective: "Rested Roseburg Ready for West Salem".

The winner of today's game will face the winner of Lincoln (#7) vs. Central Catholic (#26).  Rankings dictate that if Lincoln were to win the West Salem/Roseburg winner would be away, while either team would earn home game if Central Catholic pulls off the upset.  Here's a link to the full bracket: 2016 6A Baseball Bracket

Today's game is at 5:30 PM at West Salem High School. The Titan softball team hosts West Linn at 4:00 PM right before our game. Be sure to come and and root on both Titan clubs!
