(Anhorn Field 03.26.2019)
Game Rundown: The Titan bats were hot and starting pitcher Kyle Kronenberg was on his game Tuesday. In the first game of their Spring Break trip West faced off against Scappose at Anhorn Field, which is Crater High School's home park. Although nearly 230 miles from home, the Titans were the designated home team in this neutral site affair. West scored in every inning and put the game away early, as the 10 run rule put a stop to the beating after 5 innings. The game was all but over after the Titan's 4 run 2nd put them up 5-0. West kept adding on, plating 5 more runs in the next three innings. The final knockout came in the bottom of the 5th, when Crosby Albee scored Noah Juarez on an error by Scappose's third baseman. After Juarez was plated, the game was called due to the 10 run rule. Sam Barlow HS (03.21.2019)
Game Rundown: Braden Allison walks away from his second straight quality start without a win as the Titan offense failed to hold up their end of the bargain. Despite pitching well enough to win in both of his starts this year Allison has fallen on some hard luck. The Titans managed just one run on the day. That came on a Crosby Albee base knock in the top of the 2nd. Albee’s single plated Erik Swanson and evened up the game at 1-1. Much like West, Barlow struggled to put together anything of substance on offense for a majority of the game. The Bruins, however, came up clutch in the the bottom of the 5th. With one runner already home as a result of an RBI single earlier in the inning Durham Sundberg mashed a 2 run bomb well over the left field wall, making the score 4-1. West tried mightily to rally in the top of the 7 and did not go down without a fight. The Titans managed to get the go-ahead run to the plate, loading the bases. Unfortunately for the Titans, Barlow was able to wriggle out of the jam unscathed, taking the game by a final score of 4-1. Inside the Numbers: West is now 1-2 away from home (1-1 as the visitor, 0-1 on neutral grounds). Barlow was 0-3 before defeating the Titans for their first win of the year. Thursday's game featured the first "over the fence" home run of the year by West or their opponent. Players of Note: Erik Swanson (2-4, 1 run), Crosby Albee (1-2, 1 RBI), Braden Allison (5 IP, 3 K), Hector Amador (1 IP, 0 ER) Up Next: West heads to Crater to play 4 games over Spring Break.
