Believe it or not, our summer baseball seasons have begun.  Our seniors aren't even out the door and the Division 1 squad already has two games under their belt.  The Division 2 season begins Friday at Lebanon.

Parents and players, please be sure to check out the schedules associated with with your ballclub.  You can find them under the "Summer Ball" tab on our website.  Just go to the "Division 1" or "Division 2" page for the particular schedule you are looking for.  The schedules are up-to-date as of today and will continue to be updated as changes occur. 

Players, please remember to update coaches as to your availability.  We understand that there will be conflicts with other sports and family events.  We just need to know when those are so we can plan accordingly.

Blake Arritola's standout 2018 season has earned him a multitude of accolades. Earlier this year he was named Athlete of the Week by the Salem Sports and Breakfast Club. Following the season Arritola earned 1st Team All-GVC and 1st Team All-State honors. He was also one of three nominees for Baseball Player of the Year at the Statesman Journal Sports Awards.  To top it off, Blake will play for the South Team in the Oregon All-Star Series.

The Oregon All-Star Series features elite seniors from the 5A and 6A classifications in Oregon and takes place at Oregon State's Goss Stadium, home of the Beavers. The games will take place June 23rd and 24th, with one game on Saturday at 7:00 PM and two on Sunday, beginning at 11:00 AM. Blake is West Salem's lone representative in the series and one of five GVC players.

The Oregon All-Star Series, formally the State-Metro Series, has featured several West Salem Titans over the years. Most recently Andy Armstrong, Simran Dhote, and Matthew Lester played in the 2016 series.

With the Titans deep run into the playoffs came some well deserved season-long awards for individual players.  Hard work and great performances on the field were the keys for these players.  For a team that was picked to place fourth in the GVC these young men sure opened some eyes in 2018.  These Titans would, no doubt, tell you that taking the GVC crown and making a run into the semifinals were their season highlights, but the recognition is pretty great to see!

All-League:

• 2nd Team- Logan Johnson (Pitcher); Grant Thies (Catcher); Jacob Denning (Infield); Shaun Dhote (Infield); Austin Ailstock (Outfield)
• Honorable Mention- Noor Dhote (Pitcher); Cameron Hagan (Pitcher)

And don't forget these standout ballplayers were studs in the classroom, as the baseball program earned the highest GPA (for any classification) in Oregon!
