Game Rundown: The Titans scored often and Lucas Stanfield was dominant on the mound, as West rolled past perennial powerhouse Sheldon, 10-4. West got on the board in the bottom of the first when Crosby Albee singled home Noah Juarez. Sheldon would answer with one run of their own in the top of the 2nd, tying the game a one apiece. The Titans took control of the game in the bottom of the second with a huge 5 run inning. The big blow came when West's Albee crushed a 3 run homerun over the left-center field wall. Over the course of the next 2 innings West would plate 4 more runs, putting the game well out of reach. In an attempt to make things interesting Sheldon rallied for 3 runs in the top of the 6th off of relievers Clayton Friedman and Hector Amador but was unable to muster any other offense.
Lucas Stanfield controlled Sheldon's hitters for much of the game. He allowed 1 earned run over 5 innings of pitching, while striking out eight and allowing just two hits. By earning the win, Stanfield runs his record to 4-0 in four starts this season.
Players of note: Lucas Stanfield (5 IP, 1 ER, 8 K's, 2 H), Crosby Albee (3-4, 5 RBI, 2 runs), Tanner Keene (2-5, 1 run, 1 RBI), Kyle Mitsuyasu (1-1, 3 HBP, 2 runs), Erik Swanson (1-3, 2 runs), Braden Allison (2-4, 1 RBI, 1 run)
Inside the numbers: Crosby Albee had 5 RBI on the day, which ties him for the most RBI by Titan hitter this season (Erik Swanson vs. Crater). Incredibly, Kyle Mitsuyasu was beaned three times in the game. 8 of the 9 Titan starters recorded a hit in the game and 7 of the 9 starters crossed home plate in the game. The game was played at West Salem on Wednesday, but was originally scheduled for Tuesday at Sheldon...chalk up a win for Mother Nature by providing the Titans with some home cooking.
Up Next: The Titans will face off against North on Thursday at home. 5:00 first pitch. The Titans enter the game 6-3-1, while North comes to West with a 3-5 record. North lost a close battle with Sprague 6-5 in their last outing. This will be the first time in West Salem's history that they will face off against North Salem in a non-league affair. North dropped to the 5A classification in the off-season and, as a result, now participates in the Mid-Willamette Conference.
