The Titans defeated the Oregon City Pioneers 9-2 in OSAA state playoff first round action. A 2-2 game was blown wide open when West scored 3 runs in the 5th and 4 in the 6th. Oregon City put up a hard fought battle stealing a couple runs early but, in the end, West Salem's offense was too much for the Pioneers.
Lucas Stanfield was a standout on the mound for the Titans going 5 2/3 strong innings while notching double-digit strikeouts. Cameron Hagan followed Stanfield, pitching the last 1 1/3 innings to close the door. Offensively, the Titans saw production up and down their lineup with several hitters tallying multi-hit games.
The Titans will square off with Tualatin in the second round on Wednesday. The game will be at West Salem High School at 5:00 PM.
